Opened by the Athertons in 1960, the first Sandy Point Restaurant was a casual place known for its home-cooked meals. After the restaurant caught fire in 1975, the Athertons reinvented it on a new piece of land that was once a resort. The bustling restaurant became a hotspot for terrific food and live performances. Had a solid dinner on the screened in porch here. Beet salad with hanger steak was delish, but a bit heavy on the dressing. I'd maybe get it on the side. Our toddler loved the mussels.
