Opened by the Atherton family in 1960, the original Sandy Point Restaurant was a casual place beloved for its home-cooked meals. After the restaurant caught fire in 1975, the Athertons reopened it on a different piece of land that was once a resort. The busy restaurant was a hub for fantastic food and entertainment. It has now switched over to new owners, getting an update in 2013 at the West Olive location and adding a 2nd location in Grand Rapids more recently.Our Dedication to Quality

Douglas is a Scottish masculine given name which originated from the surname Douglas. Although today the name is almost exclusively given to boys, it was used as a girl's name in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries in the north of England. The Scottish surname Douglas was borne by one of the most powerful families of the Kingdom of Scotland (the Earls of Douglas, Angus, Morton, Dukes of Hamilton and others). Had a solid dinner on the screened in porch here. Beet salad with hanger steak was delish, but a bit heavy on the dressing. I'd maybe get it on the side. Our toddler loved the mussels.
